Ardheslaig & Celtic Jumble 4th July 2012

The previous day proved to be a great start to our trip and we quickly decided to have yet another lazy day. We headed north to Ardheslaig Crag (784 558) on our way to Torridon to meet up with our friend Iain.

Ardheslaig Crag is a small gneiss outcrop offering plenty of low grade climbing and bouldering on many of the short walls surrounding the crag.

The climbs are reasonably well protected. Good belays at the top of the crag are limited but there are stakes placed.

After an enjoyable morning / afternoon we drove north to the Torridon campsite (905 558), pitched the tent and headed off to the Celtic Jumble (907 557) to meet up with Iain.

These boulders are rough Torridon sandstone located within less than a fifteen minute walk carrying crash pads of the Torridon campsite and they are ideal for an evenings fun.

There are four main areas, Celtic Boulders, Spaceship Area, The Ship and Dinosaur Area.

There are problems of all grades and many variations.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to the Celtic Jumble and I am very much looking forward to returning.
